September

This is a poem from September 2012.

on the calendar

September begins
with apple trees
overflowing to the ground
and the music of wind

on a short errand
goldenrod in bloom
near Bossler’s
Christmas Tree Farm

oh I am in no hurry
one day at a time
works best for me now

still the image stays in my mind . . .

Karl took photos by the small creek at the park. This is a poem I wrote on March 23, 2019.

snow melt in town
some piles of snow
in the park
creek running clear
and can see the stones
at the bottom
blue sky background
for the trees

Karl took this photo on March 31, 2019.

Summer days

about a month
of summer days
to still enjoy and yet
the small changes
each day – the unique
beauty of August and
some new light
in the afternoon
by the chair
where I read

Poems and Photos

as if they could
store the sun
small blankets
on a chair
add color to
the scene
as they await
to warm
another time

rereading poems
new layers of meaning
every year
all the colors
of any given day

winds and warmth
summer reaching its fullness
after the longest day
in the North

wildflowers grow
by fields of corn
words of poetry
uplift my soul
keep me strong

Poems are from July 2014, and still true this July.

sun and shadows

sun and shadows
on old brick path
wildflower rests

turning the pages
of calendars to June
with gratitude
for the many blessings
of May
