Short Poems for June

thunder
who is the bird
still singing?

Time of Singing – Summer 2006

new leaves
on the birch tree
and on the branch
with no leaves
a robin

gifts of beauty
and simplicity
wildflowers

quiet morning
I measure time
in quiet songs

morning music
bird songs more present
than sounds from the highway

everything must be
perfect for them this year
irises everywhere

summer sun
thrift store bowl painted
with leaves and fruit

September Beauty

stars in the night
and colors
of garden mums
in the rain . . .
new poems begin

golden sun
on gold leaves
unconditional love

seagulls
down the beach
silver in the sky

twenty years
and more
since I came here
soybean fields
now gold
