Meditation: Seasons

I was listening to music that recalled many years, and I remembered a verse from the Psalms.

They go from strength to strength . . .
From Psalm 84: 7 (KJV)

One of my early poems is “And So My Soul:”

Endurance is eloquent
And marigolds are
Admirable because
They bloom
So long

I wrote the poem in 1981, and it was published by Time Of Singing in 1991. You can read the poem in my post from August 10, 2019.

Meditation: Peace

I watch or read the news. And many hours of the day I read, pray, create, look for beauty. A lot of time with blogs. Simple work at home. There are snowdrops in the garden. Earlier this year, Karl did a lot of work in the yard, on warm days. There is new space for daylilies and hosta to grow.

Meditation: Books and Journals

I look at the books and journals in our home and am grateful. There is a wide selection: poetry, memoirs, novels, books discarded by libraries, books from thrift stores, books given as gifts. Poets I’ve read for decades, and new poets in journals and who post on their blogs.

Morning Glory on the Vine: Early Songs and Drawings, by Joni Mitchell, was published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in 2019; and is a beautiful book. She wrote a forward in May 2019. And she is as grateful as ever.

Poetry called to me from the Psalms, and the hymns, from church. Then when I was young I heard Joni Mitchell, and other artists. I could write too!
