Poems and Photos: October – November 2019

This morning I learned more about the Plaza Renovation Project at Mead Public Library in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

I also note their Mead Public Library Blog and recognized the WordPress theme.

Creative note from October 14, 2019

SEASONS

once the tree grew tall
before the Emerald Ash Borer
and then a storm

hosta plants
grew green again
around the stump
in Spring

they grew large
and flowered well
so blessed by rain
and a red begonia planter

now there is an
orange pumpkin
on the ash tree stump

and hosta leaves are gold
in the brilliant morning sun

I am happy and honored that my poem from this blog was published in a new anthology. The book is available at Amazon.

Today I began reading Another Trip Around the Sun: 365 Days of Haiku for Children Young and Old. edited by Jessica Malone Latham. 2019, Brooks Books; Taylorville, Illinois.

Post from November 26, 2019. Please visit Brooks Books Haiku for more information.

I would like to conclude this post with a few images from Reusable Art.

Pot of Tulips is by Kate Greenaway.

There is a category for Kate Greenaway at Reusable Art.

A Merry Christmas Sled is by Ellen Clapsaddle.

And wpclipart is another well-organized site, for education and art.

Thank you – Ellen Grace Olinger

July in Wisconsin and Creative Note

I read in an old chair by an open window and listen to summer sounds. Several books to look at here and there. Soon there will be many daylily and hosta flowers. Peonies are in bloom.

I was looking at new nonfiction books at Mead Public Library in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.  When I was browsing, I remembered a haiku.

As a CREATIVE NOTE, sometimes readers refer back to a short post from August 2016 about Joanne Chase, an artist from Wisconsin. Here is the post and information again.

We enjoy buying greeting cards by Joanne Chase, from Hartland, Wisconsin.  Her watercolor designs are beautiful.

This morning I enjoyed seeing many pictures at Chase Greeting Cards.

We often buy her cards at Mentink’s Piggly Wiggly here in Oostburg.

Mead Library

Yesterday, Karl and I went to Mead Public Library in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

It was raining, and the parking lot was full, so we parked on the street. We had not been there for awhile, and it is wonderful to see all the creativity, along with the books. I remember going to a large bookstore years ago, and I already knew about the poetry books that interested me from the library. Yesterday, I shopped in their Friends of Mead Public Library Bookstore – and bought three more memoirs. The price was 50 cents each, and I chose to pay a dollar for each book. I seem to be growing a used book collection, that I can share again in new ways.

New for me this visit:

Imaginarium & Digital Media Lab

Mead’s Seed Library

We continue to enjoy ART AT THE LIBRARY, and viewed the Rocca Bookmarks collection.
