Poems and Photos: October – November 2019

This morning I learned more about the Plaza Renovation Project at Mead Public Library in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

I also note their Mead Public Library Blog and recognized the WordPress theme.

Creative note from October 14, 2019

SEASONS

once the tree grew tall
before the Emerald Ash Borer
and then a storm

hosta plants
grew green again
around the stump
in Spring

they grew large
and flowered well
so blessed by rain
and a red begonia planter

now there is an
orange pumpkin
on the ash tree stump

and hosta leaves are gold
in the brilliant morning sun

I am happy and honored that my poem from this blog was published in a new anthology. The book is available at Amazon.

WordPress Foundation

I am learning more about the WordPress Foundation – “Supporting the WordPress community since 2010.” Matt Mullenweg is the founder and director.

Karl helped me begin Poems From Oostburg, Wisconsin in December 2009. This way of being creative works well for me. I am grateful, and trust that our work is cared for well here.

I was happy to receive A Moment’s Longing, Haiku Society of America Members’ Anthology 2019. Tanya McDonald served as our Editor this year. The book is beautiful. Please visit the Haiku Society of America for more information.

My poem in the book:

one red tulip
blooms in the hosta border
time alone with God

Haiku 2019

near the garage
on a cold March day
bird songs

morning clouds
and here and there
enough light for the lily

reading poetry
some blue sky among clouds
and forsythia

everything must be
perfect for them this year
irises everywhere

summer
early sun fills
a bouquet of flowers

reading haiku
the generous new growth
of evergreens

rain and
near my window
first daylilies bloom

early morning
hosta flowers grow
above the windowsill

Saturday morning
so happy with the plants
we bought on sale

peaceful morning
a prayer from childhood
still with me
