I have been watching PBS Food Shows. This week I watched Lidia Celebrates America: The Return of the Artisans. They spoke of the time and dedication it takes to learn, and the five senses were mentioned – as we also think about when creating poems. There is a lot of work that takes place before an art feels more intuitive. I like seeing so many artisans and art forms honored.

We also have enjoyed a few meals at Casa Imelda, a new restaurant in Cedar Grove, Wisconsin. Wonderful food and service.

We have so much in common, and so much to learn.

Many memories – and everyday life. Christmas today in a simple way.

Blessings,

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve morning
many cars on the street
we say in the store
this is the place to be
Oostburg Bakery

Grateful for our many years here, a simple day of rest and joy.

Grateful for all the local businesses in our general area and all they add to our community. For all who help others – the kind words, the door held open by someone I do not know, the caregivers and those who need the care, the art, gardens, friends with WordPress. The cooks and those who serve in the wonderful restaurants. So many people.

I want to say thank you.

Four Poems

almost dawn
small pink poinsettia
waits by the window

years
generations
stories

told
in many
ways

how love
may change
yet endures

a barge with lights
travels our great lake . . .
thoughts and prayers
for those with thoughts
of home

Through the Light

through the Light
of Christmas
I found my way
home

from a hospital
and nursing home
through city and
small town
Main Streets

their streetlamps
with holiday lights

as my mother
was on her way
Home

the time we shared

and still share

I wrote this poem on December 3, 2013, and added a note:

A peaceful grey day here, with steady rain.  The evergreens are so beautiful.  We are also still seeing geese flying in formation.  Spring, Summer, Fall – all so glorious.  Yet I think I love this time most of all.  Yesterday I went to Target and the brown fields had a covering of frost.  I guess whatever time it may be is the best time.   The wonder of seasons, wherever we are.

sunrise
seagulls and clouds
fill the sky

December sun
from the south
shines on
a Psalm

short days
stars brighten
