Seasons

Through our blogs, I learn so much more about the seasons around the world. For example, please see recent posts at kiwissoars flights of fancy from New Zealand, by Maureen Sudlow, for Autumn poems and photos.

Here are a few of our Autumn photos. Karl recently completed our tree work, and I helped with the Spring yard work yesterday – just picked up many pine cones. Wonderful to work outside, and sit in a chair too. The daffodils are in bloom here.

Photo by Karl – October 2018

Karl took this photo of Lake Michigan last November.

And I took this photo of our old cedar garage last December.

Daffodils – May 2016

I view so many wonderful posts every day – THANK YOU

Food Poems

CONTRASTS

cold winds in predawn hours
gentle music and a cup of coffee
stir-fried vegetables in olive oil

Autumn so swift this year
time now for a long project or two
let the days grow short, read and rest

clouds hover over small space for sun
wear a bright sweater, look at the gold leaves
store it all for a winter of faith

HOW EASY TODAY

falling leaves
and silent sunrise

how easy today
to let go of old dreams

cook some eggs
wash the dishes
write this poem

The first two poems are from 2012.

carrots, cabbage
spinach, radishes
and faded flower bouquets
food on the snow
for a rabbit

This poem is from January 2016.  When snow covered the garden, a rabbit began eating the bark from the cotoneaster branches that were bowed to the ground.

gulls lifting
from the sand
corn an inch tall

Morning Stillness

morning stillness
last day of November
2018

branches create their shapes

beautiful
with grey sky
and no wind

sun on the water
birds in the sky

This morning, I remembered this verse: But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God and not from us.
2 Corinthians 4: 7

November

November
mid-afternoon

blue sky
and light falls
through trees
to the garage roof

evergreens a presence
year-round

yet somehow
with fallen leaves
and flowers gone

this is their time
to shine

evergreen time
