Mid-week, the last week in July. We’ve had rain, and the daylilies and hosta are beautiful in a different way.
I love the lessons from the gardens. The weathered look of an old book, sweater, art from a thrift store. Colors in the sky, colors of books on my shelves. Grateful to be growing older.
Before sunrise, I open the kitchen window and hear bird songs. And know this is a moment to receive with grace. Time to listen and watch, before the day’s good work. My father liked the early mornings too.
Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning . . .
