July to August: short poems

I love this time of year.  These are some favorite poems from my archives.

how does it stay
so regal on this day?
Queen Anne’s lace

loved for years
and now I know your name
blue chicory

wearing
my old sweater
worn thin
Queen Anne’s lace
along country roads

When I began here in December 2009, many of my posts seemed to write themselves.  Now the words are not as many.  That’s fine too.  I’ve known many creative seasons.  Sometimes, as life changes, I learn the same lessons in new ways.  Grateful.

This poem was a gift and was published in Bell’s Letters Poet, WestWard Quarterly, and SMILE:

leaves of bleeding hearts
now gold
so do broken hearts mend
so does grief heal
Autumn grace
