Remembrance, continued

I’ve watched the leaves turn gold on the birch tree so many years.  What a miracle that new leaves grow again in Spring.  This acrostic wrote itself:

L  ove
E  ternal
A  nd
F  orever

And poems from the past:

ordering
a Christmas wreath
for my parents’ graves
even though I know
they are not there

*

evergreens grow
in the country cemetery
I don’t know how it can be
that love keeps growing
all these years
only ever-grateful
that love does grow
