I am learning about vintage letters at Reusable Art – Breathing New Life Into Old Art. Here are some O letters for October. My mother’s last illness began around this time in 2003. The autumn leaves were beautiful outside her hospital window, near where she taught for years in Milwaukee. Now it is 12 years later. She loved language and I loved reading aloud to her, when she could no longer read. I remember these hours we found within difficult days as “islands of time.” Gifts of grace.
