Lake Michigan levels have risen because of the cold winter, and the ice cover reducing evaporation.  Then we had a cool spring with lots of rain.

  1. Good poem, gentle like the creeping-up water level. I hope the higher water doesn’t do too much damage to homes & beach cottages.
We’ve had another wet year here, too. One can hardly grasp how the climate has changed in the past ten years, here where folks have prayed so often for rain.

    1. When we bought our home in 1991, the water was high and some homes were threatened. The levels are OK in our neighborhood now. I’m going to do some more research. Thank you, and blessings to you there.

    1. I just checked with Karl, who serves on the board of the Wisconsin Great Lakes Coalition. He said we are still slightly below the historical average. The higher levels are helpful to marinas and shipping.
