The Snow Falls

the snow falls
and the sun rises

I see the sun reflected
in a neighbor’s window

the snow falls
on everything

evergreen branches
picnic tables, rocks, grass

planters left untouched
for just this reason

the snow falls
on everything

also the graves
the fields that were
parched

this gentle healing
snowfall

Blessings, Ellen

  1. We just don’t have snow falling here, but when I go to England in the Winter I experience it. As I read your poem I felt and heard that beautiful silence all around as the snow falls. For me it’s a silence that is unique to the falling of snow. Thanks Ellen – a lovely poem.
