Rain Falls In The Night

rain falls in the night
I rise to sit and listen
a cup of coffee
with the windows open

many of the best things
in my life arose from
the losses and hardest years
rain falls in the night

new writing flows
from many pages
shredded and feels right
rain falls in the night

how I love to learn
and try to understand
God gave us our minds
and our hearts too

now I know

rain falls in the night …

  1. Beautifully written truth, Ellen! While we’re going through those hardest times, we may not be able to accept this, so we must tuck it away in our hearts, until we have the strength to embrace it and rejoice in it.

    1. Dear Caddo, Thank you. Blogging and writing are surely a life by faith. I think of one post, and wonder how to follow it, and then a gift is given. And OK too for others to see the growth process. Love and blessings to you and everyone, Ellen

    1. Dear Patti, Thank you! So true about seeing rain from many angles. Because of a smaller amount of rain yesterday morning, I knew the soil could absorb the greater amount in the night. Our wheelbarrow is full of water. So I’m also thinking of how my heart needs to be prepared to receive more of God’s blessings…Ellen

  4. Wonderful, Ellen. There has been a storm brewing all night last night after an absolutely gorgeous day that brought many disappointments. Between the pressure of the coming storm and all the thoughts running through my mind I couldn’t sleep a wink all night long but rose, curled up in my recliner and half awake/half asleep spent the night contemplating the events of the day. Each disappointment I brought into my prayers. Each time I came to know that a lot more work had to be done in each area. Today I am extremely tired … but know that sleep will come … and strength will come… and my faith in GOD’s guidance and love will not fail. I can’t do any of it without his strengthening comfort.

    1. Dear Merrill, Hope you are able to rest today. I’ve also had those nights in a recliner, and then the great fatigue. May you feel God’s strength and comfort. Thank you for your kind thoughts, as always, Ellen
