The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

tulips_w_ribbon

This poem is included in The Dover Design Sampler this week, from Robert Frost The Road Not Taken and Other Poems.   The tulips are from wpclipart.com.

My mother loved Robert Frost, and this is one of the last poems I read to her.  I still enjoy reading aloud – to learn, for peace of mind, and for the beauty of the words.

Do you ever find that you simply want to hear a beloved artist’s voice?  Sometimes I think I’ll listen to a CD or reread a book; and then a few songs, a few pages, are enough.  I’m sure many feel the same way.

Spring is here in Wisconsin – about 20 degrees, icy roads, brilliant sunny day!  Ellen

  1. I had a framed poster of this in my h.s. English classroom, and each new group of sophomores wrote essays on which is better (and give examples)~ taking the road less traveled or the one more traveled. I was always amazed at students who wrote delightful essays about taking the one more traveled but finding new things to appreciate, or taking a third road not mentioned, or taking one road first to try it out but then try the other because that’s how to make a good decision, etc. We had very interesting discussions.
    I love this poem!
    Thanks for reprinting it, Ellen.

  2. Ellen, I so love his poem…in my life at the age of 25 I saw the road everyone else was taking and i turned and took the one less traveled and it has made all the difference in my life! In my mind I saw Christ when i saw the road less traveled and He became my true wealth and friend. Every time I read this poem I cry…joyful tears and you know the reason why!!! Thanks for the blessing!
